As a wife of ordained clergy, I do appreciate what the other wives go through. My husband was not ordained until our children were grown and out of the house. Thanks be to God for that. My husband had attempted to enter the clergy when our 6th child was born. The Lord had better plans for him, but my husband was persistent and his calling was fulfilled three years ago.
The gift of celibacy in the priesthood is a gift to the Church. This leaves them free from the responsibility to family and wife. This leaves them able to give all to the Church, without looking back to whom they are leaving behind.
