Thank you for addressing this issue. I think we do the world an injustice when we think that women do not suffer from pornography addiction as much as men do. I think women are even more secrative and shamed by it. Is there any real help out there for women who are desperate for CHRISTIAN HELP?

My husband was addicted to pornography from the age of thirteen. He was always honest with me about the problem. He told me it wasn't my fault, yet I felt like maybe I wasn't good enough for him. We had a lot of sexual struggles early on in our marriage because he had such a strong sex drive. Porn and masturbation deceive a person into believing that sex is on demand, any time you want it (and however you want it). He tried everything in his strength to overcome his addiction. Finally, just this past year (after 16 years of addiction), God delivered him. Totally delivered him! He knows that he has to be careful what he allows his eyes to see, yet God has erased the desire to look and to masturbate. He is a changed man. I know some people struggle with the addiction every day of their lives, but my husband believes that God knew the only way he personally could overcome it was deliverance. Dont give up on God! He works miracles, even today! Thank you for this article!

First, a huge "God Bless" to the staff at crosswalk.com for sharing this important message with the world. Also, thank you to EN, zamar4ever, and akrzmarzick for replying, and for helping me to feel like i have friends that truly want to help. akrz... thank you so much for that link, i just signed up for the 60-day course...and feel like I am already on my way to beating this addiction!
EN ... pls know that your husband's porn habit is there - and would be there - with you or without you. It sounds like you love your husband very much ( or you wouldn't be writing your note :) ... so please pray for him, forgive him, and let Jesus take that pain and your hurting heart away...that is what He came to do, and did 1,974 years ago... continues to do today. I am hopeful that my wife and I can get back to a focus on each other...that is as exciting and strong as it was when we were married 30 years ago ( this coming August ). I hope the same for you !

Hello,

For many years, my husband and I went through this terrible thing. He was addicted to porn, but did not realize that it had taken over his life and mine as well. It's been only a few months since he has owned up to it and the pain is still there for me. I can't get him to understand the effect this has on me. My self esteem is low and no matter how much he tells me that I am beautiful, I feel seperated from him intimately. Whenever I try to talk with him and express my feelings, he dismisses them. How do I deal with the pain and get past it?

One look, about thirteen years ago, was the worst decision I ever made. My second worst decision was when I looked again and so forth and so on. Thirteen years of pain is what I’ve endured as a result of that initial gaze.

Although the first paragraph seems to present an excessively generalized view of men in a contradicting way (note the first and last sentences); the article is effective in that it is helping to bring attention to a problem that is secretly and silently plaguing many (men and women) in the Body of Christ.

Hi there,

Great article!

There is a wonderful online tool, www.settingcaptivesfree.com, that you should reference.

It has helped me and several men at my church to break the chains of porn addiction using a Bible-based method that lasts for 60 days.

Please spread the word (and the Word!) so that we can help other men to get free from the bondage of porn!

Thank you.
