I can see the "wisdom" of using the environment perspective as another argument to promote staying together even through the hard times of marriage, but I believe that we need to live by the authority of Jesus Christ as Christians who simply said "What God has joined together let NO man put asunder". This means that before God divorce is not an option in marriage. God hates divorce because it brings a garment of violence..as we clearly see in our society and children bear most of the "violence" of their parent's selfishness(bottom line).
Jesus superceded the Moses by saying "let NO man put asunder" clearly indicating that neither wife, husband, a mistress, a mother in law, a child, a dog, a financial planner, a lawyer, a TV talk show host, a Bible Study leader, a Pastor have any right to tell someone to get a divorce.
Christ's word is the only truth that will hold up under the fire of "but I can get a divorce because he/she is...or did..." The Lord says forgive over 70x7, so do it.
