Ephesians 5:33 says "each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband."

It does not say the wife must respect her husband...if he deserves it.

I have a problem with it, because what if your mate has totally made you bitter and though you love the Lord with all your heart, the things that you have gone thru are almost irreconcileable? Things that in the morning when you wake up you wish you weren't even married instead of thinking of how to honor your mate for the day.

Doesn't it work both ways? Shouldn't our mates honor and respect us too?
