Angry, small minded biggots?? Christians?? Never.....
(note the sarcasm.)

I've been in church my entire life, southern Baptist no less, and I'm here to tell you, thats a fairly accurate description of most everyone I've met that *claims the faith.* Christians are the most hateful people I've ever known, especially true Sunday church-goers. As far as being small minded, most simply believe what their pastor tells them to, the pastor believes what Seminary brainwashed him to believe, and so on and so forth. Yes, in short, they are small minded.

Maybe we should do something about it instead of blasting those who reveal our true identities.

As far as the movie, funny as hell. Period. Is being gay wrong? No! Partaking in homosexual activity, and living the lifestyle, yeah, that is. However it's not our place to blast them. We are called to LOVE them, something the reviewer obviously fails at.

Wow. I'm a little embarassed and ashamed as a Christian to see a Christian review diminish the left's (the political side to which I belong) desire for equal rights for everyone down to "loving the world of sodomy."

Why is it that under the guise of the Word of God that so many people make it sound like homosexuality is just a preferred method of sex and not made of the the same kind of intrinsic feelings that heterosexuality is.

I haven't seen Chuck and Larry--not a huge Sandler fan. But you demean other Christians when you imply that this film is a piece of propaganda or that a person's sexuality is something that they just pick up because they're bored with sleeping with the gender they're 'supposed to.'

Incidentally, divorce is also something the Bible says is wrong. Yet many movies feature divorced couples. I hope that your critique of the values therein are equally as scathing.

Fact: I was a homosexual (or someone with "same sex attractions") or whatever you want to call it. I HATED myself. I HATED men and I was very jealous of them! Yet I lusted and was attracted to men sexually. Does that make any sense to any of you? NO! Does that sound like someone who is spiritually whole and sound? NO! I remember when I first "came out of the closet" and embraced my homosexuality. I was thrilled and I felt like I was finally the person I was always suppose to be because as far back as I could remember, I was very feminine. I was close to my mother and had a distant father. I thought my mother was a superhero because she always saved me from my father's rages, etc. So I ruined a 15 year relationship with my wife (yes I was married and I called myself a Christian) to be with men. I have since realized through therapy that I was one messed up dude. My gayism was the catalyst that got me the help I needed both mentally and emotionally to become healthy minded.

I realize this is a Chrisitian website and views tend to be towards the right but I must say, I cannot believe what I am reading. I was raised Catholic and consider myself a Christian. A Christian in my mind is one who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ. Since when do the teachings of Christ talk about homosexuals being bad or wrong? Jesus preached love of all people no matter how different they are or what they look like. It is websites like this that give Christians a bad name. A previous post stated that in movies like this the gays are the good guys and the Christians are the bad guys. Not a very Christian attitude. I admit that it is hard to accept people that are different from us, whether it is beliefs or skin color or whatever. You want to talk about Propaganda, look what this website propagates on a daily basis. If you are Christian, you must hate gays and you must be pro life and if you do not, then you are not a real Christian.

It's unsettling that Christians would buy a ticket and watch this movie. Surely, even without the benefit of a review, those who take seriously the scriptural admonition to renew one's mind and be in the world but separated from it and its sinful indulgences, would stay home rather than partake of this fare. Hollywood knows well "the flesh" and how to leverage temptation to score a goal for Satan.
The agenda: desensitizing viewers and normalizing a lifestyle that grieves God. The formula: Lauded actors. Generous helpings of sexual titillation. Humor to bond viewers emotionally. Create the illusion that the gay lifestyle is apt to be as fun as any other. Blaspheme God. Revile Christians. Mock scripture. Movies like this are like bait on the end of a fish hook. Seemingly attractive but deadly. Last I checked the wages of sin is still death.
A true believer takes the Holy Spirit wherever he goes. How many Christians have taken him to see this movie so far? Talk about abuse.

I just saw the movie last weekend and thought it was very funny. However, I did find the scene of the "Christian" pastor protesting outside of the gay findraiser kind of offensive to me as a Christian. For some reason whenever gays and Christians come together on screen, gays are the good guys and Christians are the bad guys. Tis the world in which we live. There are other ways to voice your disapproval of the gay lifestyle without protesting using vulgarity and hate. Obviously the world doesn't see this. I have had several "gay" friends who have let me voice my disapproval of their lifestyle in a respectful manner. In the end we basically agreeed to disagree but I was able to witness to them and at least plant the seed. In the end we need to see "Chuck and Larry" as it really is...a secular film. I enjoyed it for the entertainment not for the wholesome family values :)

Let me count the ways I was disappointed. I am a HUGE Sandler and James fan, and expected this movie to be funny. Rather than entertainment, I spent $10 and two hours to watch propaganda. *sigh*

I appreciate this resource for movie reviews from a christian perspective very much. "Chuck and Larry" as advertised seemed tempting to go see. After all it's a comedy and sexy to boot. It is very helpful and most important to me to know the message of a movie before I decide to see it or not. In reguards to your intro being flippant, yes. But it is not 'appalling.' We are called to try to reflect his image, not to be him. We are not perfect. Relax and stop trying to make christians walk on eggshells all the time. In fact, eholverson actually defended the director and only minimally, nonchalantly, said, 'though it does bother me.' I found this article to have levity and criticism, positive & negative. My only wish is, to know the details of how the 'abomination' scripture was mocked.

I appreciate the author's summary of the movie. It is definitely helpful to know what a movie is about and what it portrays. However, the way she flippantly introduces the issue of homosexuality in our society is disheartening and rather appalling. It seemed as though she was offended on many levels by this movie, including it's portrayal of Christians. However, I have seen many Christians respond to the issue of homosexuality in a very un-Christ-like manner which includes bigotry, profanity, and unloving politically motivated sermons. I don't find it surprising that the director chose to include this aspect in the film, though it does bother me. My hope and prayer is that we as Christians will find a better way to reach out to and love homosexuals among us. That is what Christ calls us to do. So, as we try to protect the families God has entrusted to us, may we also teach them to show the love of Christ to ALL those around us, no matter what their struggle.
