Good review overall, I would like to add though that there is a little bit of nudity. There is a scene where Dan and Marie get stuck in the shower together. Dan is fully clothed but Marie is forced to take off her top. She turns her back so you can't really see anything, but it's still in there.

No f-word in this film. Also, the worldview stated in "Cautions" is the worldview that is portrayed in the movie (something to keep in mind, as are the other Cautions, when making a moviegoing decision). Contact the studio for complaints about the worldview expressed.

As a Christian, I didn't agree with everything in this film either. However, I did identify with the importance of family, as well as the grief process and how long it can take for someone to get over the loss of a loved one.

Depite some innuendo, this is a relatively clean and funny film (by today's cinematic standards). Steve Carell was perfectly understated and believable, and Juliette Binoche was really outstanding in a type of role you don't normally see her take on.

I'm glad I saw DIRL. And I'd see it again. Good review, Eric!

My husband and I really enjoyed this movie. It was a delightful change from the action-packed superhero movies we often see. I think the review you gave was great and accurate. It is definitely a family movie most Christians would enjoy. Now that I know crosswalk has movie reviews, I'll be sure to take a look before we choose our next movie date. Thank you and keep up the good work!

I actually agree with this review of the movie, as it was extremely helpful to myself and my husband as we were choosing a "date night" option. I never heard the f-word, though did hear the "mild obscenity" as stated in the review. I think Crosswalk's movie review section is an excellent tool for Christians to use, as I've read your reviews for years and have not been disappointed once. Thank you for your service and keep up the good work!

I don't understand the purpose of this review. I thought it was so Christians could make informed desisions about a movie before we expose ourselves and our children to it. In the review Feel-Good "Dan in Real Life" a Nice Option by
Eric Rice we are told that for language there is "a mild obscenity" I checked another review (a secular one)and it says that so called mild obsceinty is the f--- word. This is not mild to me! I think Mr. Rice should leave the definition of "mild" up to the reader and just give us the details and tell us, specifically, what those obscenities are. That would be more helpful. Another thing... We are told in the "Worldview" section "Good and bad stuff happens. Work with it." This is not helpful at all. I have depended on this site for years to give me a Christian perspective on movies so I would know what was appropriate for my family to watch. I don't know if I can trust you all any more!
