John Cusack Keeps Martian Child Down to Earth

I read Ms. Banisters review with interest and must say I agree with her on almost every single point. The only comment I would like to add is that I think that the reviewer may have done her audience a disservice by neglecting to note that the movie was based on the auto-biographical experiences of Science Fiction author David Gerald -- recounted in his decidedly non sci-fi novel from which the movie took its name. It was these true life circumstances that kept the movie from "relying on every patented cliché in the book" and the source material at least deserved a mention.
