I also went to see Cloverfield on the recommendation of this site. Small things that where unpalitable to a Christian aside..................if you are over 40, ever have suffered from vertigo, don't go near it. The hand held camcorder footage (the whole movie) will at best leave you feeling nauseas or at worse (my brother-in-law) have you heading to the nearest exit before you're physically sick!!!

By the way my nephew thought it was a great show !!

Having only been born-again for 3 years now, my evaluation comes from being someone who used to watched all kinds of gore and thrill with no reservations. There is not a lot of gore in this movie. The language has actually been limited, as the reviews above mine will show, but it still is not acceptable for kids under 18. What I want to say about the film is that it is SO well made, and extremely soul-wrenching that I would never recommend it to ANYONE. It will play all the strings of your heart and grip your soul with such suspense, I could do nothing but repent after the movie. I will be laughed at and mocked in my review, but I urge NO ONE to watch this movie. Guard your ears and your eye-gates beloved. I urge you as a friend to be jealous to only allow pure and edifying things to enter. This show terrfies me. The terror and fear is amazingly real and dark. The lamp of body is the eye! Why would we encourage anyone to set their eyes upon this? Again - Don't watch. :)

i thought it was very well made. it wasn't supposed to be treated like a movie. language wasn't really terrible the s-word about 5-7 times. overall a very realistic movie of what people would do if a monster attacked.

My wife and I went to see this movie purely on the basis of this Crosswalk reccomendation. We usually trust it. I cannot believe that Crosswalk reccomended this movie. The language was bad, and this was probably the all-time worst movie we have ever seen in our entire lives. In fact, everyone leaving the theatre had the same reaction. Total strangers were walking up to each other saying, "Was that not the most stupid thing you have ever seen?" And from a Christian viewpoint, there was absolutely no redeeming value about it. How could Crosswalk possibly give a remotely favorable review to this film! It made the old Japanese Godzilla movies look intelligent by comparison.

Let me begin by explaining that I am a devout and highly socially conservative Christian who rarely makes any attempt to see "horror films." But I do love apolcalyptic works (such as "Deep Impact" and "I Am Legend"), and the book of Revelation in the Bible has long occupied a soft spot in my heart and imagination.
All of that having been said, Cloverfield never frightened me. But it did leave my senses very rattled, to say the least. In my opinion, you must see the film in a theatre to fully appreciate the experience.
I suspect, based on the immediate reactions of the other audience members with whom I watched it, that many, many people will want their money back, and that an equal number will feel compelled to rise to their feet and applaud in positive appreciation of the film.
It is most certainly not a movie meant to be seen by children.
