Wow. I have to disagree with most here.

So this is how I would have to break it down

Pros
Great story.
Makes you consider both sides of a relationship.
Something I can watch with my kids and or pastor.

Cons
Bad acting
Didn't have a movie "look"
Great for those that already agree, turn off as a evanligising tool. (Don't believe me see IMDB)
Not a lot of depth to the story line
Bad acting

I'm not a movie buff by any means. We picked the movie up from RedBox at my wife's suggestion. I had no idea what is was about. 2 minutes into the movie I looked at her and said I may not make it all the way. I glad I did.

Although I critical of the movie I think it was more good than bad. I would and have already recommended it to others.

In fact I may hold a fireproof dinner and movie at my home soon.

So I completely agree with the reviewer, in hopes that more Christian movies are made but with more depth all around.

For example look at the Passion.

Thanks for this honest review. The movie was not good from an artistic standpoint. And, as Christians, we must demand the very best in truth, beauty, and art. That's what drew me to the faith and I know that's what will draw more people. When we settle for drivel like Fireproof, we are actually repelling more people than we're attracting.

i personally like 'seventh heaven', use to watch it every time it was on, when i had time to watch tv. So I plan to see it as soon as it is in my area. Every other review i have read has been totally positive.

A group from our church went to see this movie Friday night and we loved it! What a message that is delivered...this review is way off beat. It was a spiritual renewal for our marriage. We are actually planning a second trip to the theater to see it again.

Wow! What an amazingly BAD review!! I haven't come to Crosswalk in a long time to look at the movie reviews, but decided to check out the review of Fireproof. Now I remember why I don't come here!
Fireproof is a WONDERFUL movie!! I have not talked to ONE person who didn't love it!!! Every couple should go see it together, and every young person needs to see it. It doesn't matter that it is low-budget, or that the actors (except for Kirk Cameron) are not professional. It touches the heart deeply, and gives a message everyone needs to see/hear.
We are going to buy this movie when it becomes available. I urge everyone to see it!

I can't believe this person reviewed the movie this way. I am tired of watching so many movies that leave you feeling violated in some way. This movie was an awesome change. I felt as though it was money well spent. When I left the movie theater, I felt as though I took something positive away from the film. If you enjoyed Facing the Giants, you will love this movie.

Please, PLEASE: no more reviews by Christian Hamaker. He's horrible. He has no more insight than a bat. Obviously, he has neither the gift of cinematic criticism nor the gift of spiritual discernment. He judges a movie by its overall gloss, without any concern for heart, story, character development, vision, inspiration or anything else that goes into good story-telling or godly filmmaking. I hate to be so blunt, and I hate to sound unkind, but you guys have subjected us to his worldly opinions long enough. It's time to get a real Christian film critic in there. Please take Mr. Hamaker off the dole before we take you off our e-mail lists. Thanks. Waitsel Smith

I totaly agree with mach9cross. You are wise my friend!!Ignore this review. How nice it was to sit in a movie with my husband (who by the way I thought would think this movie corny - WRONG!! - he loved it). Everytime I turn around movies and TV are full of sex of every persuasion one can think of. Frankly, I'm tired of it!! When I heard about Fireproof (thanks to Crosswalk advertisement, I must say),I had to see it!I knew if Kirk Cameron was involved - it would glorify Christ (how nice is it to have that assurance!)Praise GOD for movies like this. Besides Kirk's stand up principles and non-payment for his work - I understand the actors were all volunteers from a real church in Georgia. Nice way to spread GOD's Word! GOD bless them! See the movie!

This was one of the best, most worthwhile, and helpful movies I have seen in a very long time. It is a movie most people can relate to in some way. It is wonderful to see such a wholesome depiction of real life situations and how God can mend a broken marriage. Kirk Cameron, so I hear, did this movie without taking a salary, and, at the end when he kissed his on screen wife, did not really kiss the actress who played her--his real life wife filled in as her double! Kudos to the filmmakers. I highly recommend this movie!

Ignore this review, if you want a happy marriage go see this movie!(of course you have to also want to practice what it says). Unlike secular romance movies with their unrealistic situations and excitement. Fireproof is fairly realistic. Most people don't intend to get divorced. Many divorced men aren't outlandish characters, abusers, deadbeats, or womanizers. The are just average people trying to live out their life and be good, but are clueless what actions or inactions led to this and blame the other person. Like Kirk Cameron the only response can be bewilderment and anger at what got them there. You cannot compare this to 7th heaven, Christ is not taken out of the picture nor is there shame of His answer. If you want meaningless popcorn entertainment that tells you marriage doesn't need work go see something else. But if you want a warm touching movie with real people, real situations, and real answers see Fireproof.

Have you ever heard of the expression "The Little Engine that could." Well Fireproof is the little movie that "Did". Opening in a little over 800 screens, Fireproof was number four at the box office--Priase God. Of course the secular media will not report this, but who cares. We serve a awesome God and I believe he wholeheartedly approves, irregardless of what Mr. Hamaker thinks. Please encourage your friends and other Christians to support this movie. FINALLY SOMEONE GOT IT RIGHT!!!.

Thanks mike_ga for letting us know about the budget error relating to Facing the Giants. It is corrected and reflects "$100,000" now as the budget for this film.
