Enjoying Silence

The Psalmist seems to have truly appreciated silence. He writes, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). He also writes, “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him” (Psalm 62:5). David faced many struggles in his life, and many times he retreated in silence to pray and meditate. It was there, in the silence, that he was able to find strength in God. Our lives can be so hectic that we give little time for God to speak to us, to renew our spirits. Are you spending enough time alone and quiet before God?
