Over-Thinking

Have you ever been stuck in a rut with your thinking? Something has been bothering you and you can’t seem to let it go. You twist your thoughts into different shapes, consider the situation from another angle, and still you are unable to let the issue go. Perhaps you’ve been hurt by someone, and believe firmly that you did nothing to cause the problem. All of this may be true, or perhaps you did add to the problem. Rarely are we perfectly innocent. Still, there is danger in over-thinking. We can cause undue anxiety by mulling something over too much. These are the moments when we would do well to be mindful of the Scripture that says, “Who can add a single hour to his life by worrying?” (Matthew 6:27).
