I think that this is important information but at the same time its important to learn to balance the "pendulum" rather than swinging back into the other extreme, which is not apprectiating or giving recognition to the children at all. I agree that helping kids understand the sacrifice that success requires in balance with encouragement on areas of strength for the child are a good balance. But please realize that encouragement and recognition are important in helping kids reach their goals, simply in their time and place, and in realistic measure, balanced with areas they could work on. Just don't be too negative.
