When I found this site, I thought it would help me teach teens just how bad the world is, but it looks like compromise has managed to infiltrate "The Intersection of Faith and Life."

" it’s less offensive " which I guess means that it's ok to have just a little offense. To compromise a little.

"Not that I’m “pro-vampire,” [BUT] it’s not the biggest problem..." But means 'except in this case'. Which means to compromise and allow it JUST this ONE time. kinda like saying "Not that I smoke cigarettes, BUT it's not like drugs"

"is getting caught up in Edward’s world really any worse than being devoted to a favorite soap opera..." No, it's not! It's the SAME! It's still an idol.

Proverbs 25:26 - Like a muddied fountain and a polluted spring is a righteous man who yields, falls down, and compromises his integrity before the wicked.

You are suggesting we compromise our integrity, just this once, because it's not as bad as what's out there.

You should be ashamed of yourself!

Thank you to Crosswalk and to the writer of the review. A parent of 4 and somewhat caught off guard to my 11 year old receiving and devouring this first book I am grateful to have some insight from which to begin a dialogue that will hopefully allow for some healthy discussion and perspective. Thank you. It is nice to know that you are here.

Folklore states that - A vampire is the manifestation of an unclean spirit possessing a decomposing body. This undead creature is considered to be vengeful and jealous towards the living and needing the blood of the living to sustain its body's existence.

Does this sound Godly to anyone? Does this sound like something that pleases the Lord and that we should be mediating on?

I very much enjoyed your review. I've read the first book, and you're right, there is no hint of Mormon beliefs in "Twilight." I gave up the series because I just couldn't stand the mushiness any longer.

However, you might want to know that the last book, "Breaking Dawn," does use a few Mormon teachings, regardless of what the author states. I've never read it, but friends whose opinion I trust have mentioned this and found it very disturbing. Thought it was worth a mention in case you're going to read further in the story.

I am also a christian teen that read the whole twilight series. I wasn't sure about it at first but my friend kept bugging me to read it, so i talked to my mom and read it. I think that even though it is vampires, stephenie meyer could have put a whole lot of crap in the twilight series, but she didn't. I agree with the writer when she said that you see worse stuff in horror movies....besides twilight really does have some great christian morals in it. If you ask me you see way worse stuff at high school than in that book series.

I agree with the review. God wants us to enjoy life and not live by strict rules and regulations. That would be classified as legalism and that is how the Pharisees were. They were so caught up in the rules and do's and donts that they missed Jesus standing right in front of them!!! I think we as Christians need to readjust and live by grace and love! Quit trying to find all the wrong in everything!!!!

I am an honest Christian teenager who very much enjoys the Twilight series. I love this review. From the very first time that book was in my hands, my mother and I have had long, endearing talks about it. It has strengthed our relationship, being able to so openly express our feelings about a series that has its good and bad aspects. When I first mention to any Christian adult that my favorite series is Twilight,I can just about pinpoint the result that I will get. They automatically assume "vampire" with "evil."I have read many a Christian review,(such as the one in my monthly Christian magizine Brio) warning parents not to let that evil into their household. My personal opinion? Pick your fights wisely. Teenagers will only agree with you for so long, and stand for your "no" answers for so long. Fight with them about things that will truly corrupt them, I.E. drugs, premarital sex, and their faith. Read the books together, and discuss them with your child, you may be suprised.

I could not have expressed it better than what she said, " ....it's not as bad as crack" It sums it all up to what parents are like nowadays, compromising on christian values. Afraid to say no, afraid to say "this is wrong" for fear of their children's, dare I say, disapproval? Wake up! Didn't God say to be steadfast in our spirits and righteousness?

I am no parent, have not read the book but have watched the movie Twilight. The views given by all the comments plus the author of this article shows balance. The harm here is the obsession, but what of the harry potter series? I haven't read any book but have watched all the sequels.though there are a lot of issues spiritually yet we always come down to the end...it is a good story - the story of the supernatural which we in one way or another get fascinated and enjoy it.When we become obsessed and fanatic about it then that is the problem...fanatism becomes an idolatry replacing God in our hearts,mind, soul and strength to the ideology of the books. it is good to enjoy one's imagination in stories and get entertained and it has to stay there, no more no less. Pure entertainment -but should always be a wise way for us to be entertained that will not lead us to sin.
