I think that your time and your resources would be better spent helping people who didn't already believe in Christ.

Hi
Inspiring article! I am close to 50 years old and have been a believer since 1974 (received salvation May of that year...Praise the Good Lord!!). I have had a heart for missions, but have only had opportunity to support them financially and through prayer. I am hoping one of my teenage children will be inspired this article...to maybe do a little more than attend church or Bible Studies..for the Lord. It has inspired me to be more knowledgable about my faith, and false religions as well...to be better prepared to answer for my beliefs. I have been a Bible Reader and Bible Study leader (off and on)...over the years. I have been known to challenge the beliefs of a few young Mormons (or Jehovah's witnesses)...who have knocked on my door. I know a little, but could stand to learn more....always...about our Lord Jesus Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit...and His work in our life and world. He isn't finished with us yet!
God Bless our Young Christian Missionaries!

God has been speaking to my heart about missionary projects inside this country. It seems like we only see a need to help and work in this country when we see a hurricane devistate or a tornado uproot a town. I almost took my youth group to Mexico this summer, and God really began workin on me about it. My whole life I've seen poverty, hopelessness, and third world conditions right here in the states. I knew Mexico was the wrong choice, but it was hard to tell the congregation and my youth group that there was a change in plans. I did it, and we are about to leave to go to Austin, TX (only 6 hours away from us) We need to wake up and start to understnad that our mission field starts in our home and radiates out in all directions. It doesn't end until God tells us to stop walking. That can be Spain, Uganda, or Romania... or it can be down the street at the grocery store, the local schools or a few hours away. Think on that.

Thanks for the article. I have for years felt like God is speaking to us here in the US about missions trips right here in the states not just for weeks but months to years just like we do overseas. I, however, did not realize the training the Lord does in us when we take short-term missions trips. I am thankful that those at Stand to Reason have discerned the need for a greater understanding of our faith as we are definitely a complacent people at times. I recently studied out Acts 17 and what Paul did with speaking his testimony of Jesus. I found it very interesting that he used poets in Athens (or at least read by those in Athens) who were familiar to the people where he was speaking to let them know of Jesus. Thanks for coming to Utah to speak of God's Truth-the Way, the only Way, Jesus!
