Moore is doing what Paul condemns in Galatians. Moore says that Jesus dying for our sins to give us eternal life is not the whole gospel. I think Paul would disagree; he gives the gospel in 1 Cor. 15:3-4. Moore claims that his gospel is "radical," but it isn't; it is just the law. He focuses on our obedience rather than Christ's obedience for us. The real gospel proclaims that Christ has done everything already in our place and that God imputes his righteousness to us. Now that's radical. Looking at myself for evidence of salvation would bring even less than a "tentative hope"; it would eventually lead me to either despair or atheism, because the only evidence would be how much of a sinner I am. I'd rather look to the evidence of Christ's obedience. In him I have absolute assurance. If going to church every Sunday so I can hear that Christ forgives my sins makes me a "near Christian," then call me a near Christian.

I now stand corrected. In one of my former posts I stated that you would not find anything even romotely similar to the doctrine of the Early Church on Crosswalk, thanks to this author I am happily shown to be wrong, and that to the glory of God. I thank you for your honest and obvioulsy Spirit inspired word in this article.

The gift of eternal life [ salvation] is a gift from God.We receive this gift by one way and one way only...by believing the Gospel message as proclaimed by Paul.If we believe that the shed blood of Christ is our only means of salvation and that Christ was the Son of God then God grants us the gift of eternal life.No works is involved. Not living a certain way nor talking a certain way will gain us eternal life.Faith which means in the Bible total trust in the blood of Christ is the only thing required.
