Whitney writes, "God doesn’t demand that people worship and praise Him; He simply inspires them to do so." What can seem arrogant and egotistical in human terms is very different when referring to God. In fact, God demands we glorify Him. Speaking to us in Isaiah 42:8, God states "I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another . . ." The coffeehouse pundit may claim this to be divine egotism, but the equation is different with God. When His name is glorified, two things happen.

1. By definition we turn our attention to God, the source of all blessing. We thrive more in abiding with God than when we do in glorifying ourselves or anything other than God. That is why Jesus taught us to "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

2. A related effect of glorifying God is that others witness these acts and then can receive that blessing. As God's glory increases so does mankind's blessing - clearly an act of love.

Great answers. I just want to suggest an alternative answer to the miracle question.

God is always involved in creation (Col 2 where Jesus is upholding creation). He is behind the natural law and does not just work directly sometimes. Natural law works in a set pattern and miracles are when God works differently from this set pattern.

According to known natural law, a tumor may be unstoppable. However, God can change this pattern and use the body's mechanism to make the tumor disappear.
