We Can’t Stand Sitting Down

Stellar Kart

Stellar Kart’s 2005 debut album, All Gas. No Brake., offered a Christian alternative to mainstream acts like Good Charlotte and Green Day. On We Can’t Stand Sitting Down, the pop-punk group returns with the same exuberance and greater stylistic flexibility.

Appealing primarily to youthful listeners, the band ignites emotional fires with explosive rock anthems such as “I Wanna Live” and “Activate.” The more melodic ballad “Me & Jesus” offers a message of encouragement and unconditional love. Likewise, “Hold On” centers on hope and determination to make it through pain.

Though the disc focuses more on delivering positive messages to teens, an older audience likely will appreciate both the provocative “Only Wanted,” which features a timely message on parental regret and healing, and the polished acoustic praise of the disc’s closer, “Angels in Chorus.”

Using a fresh variety of musical sounds and lyrical subjects gives Stellar Kart the edge on this energizing release.
