Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

--Matthew 28:19

Do you remember when you first found Jesus Christ?

The fire, the passion, and the excitement were overwhelming. Didn’t you want to tell everyone about the joy you found?

But what about now? Over time, we can get comfortable. We can lose the urgency. Maybe life crowds in and you lose the passion.

But the apostle Paul kept the fires burning in his spirit. He kept the desire to share Christ with others. How did he do it?

Through prayer. That is where the fire is lit for sharing Christ with others. When you get serious about prayer, you find yourself getting serious about bringing people to Christ.

I know it’s true in my life. And I believe it can be true in your life, too.

In God’s Word, prayer and evangelism are inseparably linked. Jesus told His disciples to pray for the mission field in Matthew 9:37-38: “Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.’”

Consistent prayer encourages and equips us to carry out the mission of evangelism. Prayer enlarges our heart with compassion for people and reignites our fire to share Christ with them.

So I challenge you to get serious about prayer today!

WHEN YOU GET SERIOUS ABOUT PRAYER, YOU FIND YOURSELF GETTING SERIOUS ABOUT BRINGING PEOPLE TO CHRIST.
