In a nutshell: This Californian trio not only shares the same instrumentation as Keane (piano, guitar, and drums), but also carries a similar bombastic pop sound strapped to their skinny frames. The six songs on this disc are as earnest as anything you're likely to hear this year, with singer/pianist Dan Ballard hitting aching high notes in his pleas for understanding and forgiveness. It is sometimes charming stuff, but feels particularly slight when put up against the bands that Until June are obviously and audibly inspired by (Coldplay, U2).
