In a nutshell: A worship leader at Colorado's New Life Church and co-founder of the Desperation Band, Glenn Packiam has written praise choruses sung by congregations everywhere. Though he retains several signatures from the group (escalating choruses, shiny guitars, lively production), there's also a personal tint that covers everything from internal wrestling to sympathy for friends who faced a stillborn birth. While a handful of vertical reflections fall into humdrum routine, Packiam shows general promise that could some day give those in the Passion movement a run for their royalties.
