Living for Christ

November 2, 2011

And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.

Revelation 12:10-11

I heard about a man who was robbing banks all over Texas years ago and the Texas Rangers finally caught him. So they tied him up and said, “Now you tell us where you stashed all that money.”

And the robber replied, “I no speak English.”

So a Texas Ranger said to an interpreter there, “You tell him that if he doesn’t tell us where the money is, we’re going to string him up from the nearest tree right here and now!”

So the interpreter said to him in Spanish, “This man says if you don’t tell him where the money is, he’s going to string you up from the nearest tree.”

And the robber replied back, “There’s a tree at the end of this road. If he goes to the north side of the tree and digs down two feet, he’ll find the money. Tell him! I don’t want to die!”

So the interpreter turned to the ranger and said, “He said he’s not afraid to die!”

The truth is that neither you nor I really want to die. And to preserve our lives, we’ll do just about anything. But the early Christians knew that accepting Christ could mean death for them, yet they did it anyway.

It’s not always necessary to die for Christ. But it is always necessary to die to yourself for Christ. So as you live your life, put yourself second and God first in everything you do. When you do that, you’ll receive a greater reward than you could ever fathom!

GOD CALLS EVERYONE TO LAY ASIDE THEMSELVES AND PUT HIM FIRST. SO AS YOU GO THROUGH YOUR LIFE, DIE TO YOURSELF EACH DAY BY LIVING YOUR LIFE FOR CHRIST!
