Time with God - Oct. 1, 2012

Ephesians 5:13-17

But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Make the most of your time!

None of us wants to waste our lives. We don’t sit down and plan to waste our years. Yet, often before we know it, time has passed and we look back in shock at how time has flown and we have not done with our lives what we ought to have done by now.

The Lord is reminding us today that we can avoid this tragedy, not through some big formula or complicated time-management system, but simply by “making the most of our time!”

One man has said, “Most time is wasted, not in hours, but in minutes. A bucket with a small hole in the bottom gets just as empty as a bucket that is deliberately kicked over.”

He’s right, isn’t he? When we let the little minutes slip away with nothing of value in them, our life is slipping away. Once gone, time can never be retrieved. What moments can you devote to God today?
