Choosing Friends Carefully

We gradually become like those with whom we associate. This is perhaps the greatest reason we must be so careful when raising children—being cautious about those with whom our children associate. But what about you? Who are your friends? Are they trustworthy? Do they offer you wise counsel? Paul offered these words of wisdom: “Do not be deceived: bad company ruins good morals” (I Corinthians 15:33). Solomon, considered one of the wisest men to ever live, said “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm” (Proverbs 13:20).
