Tone Up Relationally

You may have worked on choosing your words carefully. I certainly hope so, as words have the power to breathe life or death into a relationship. But, what about your tone of voice? Are you aware that you can speak with a tone that conveys respect and value, or disrespect and disregard? You can speak in a condescending tone or in a gentle, kind tone that conveys honor. There is little value of speaking words of encouragement if your tone puts others on the defense. Be mindful of how you talk to others, knowing this will either ‘set the tone’ for a meaningful exchange or stop any possibility for meaningful interaction.
