Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has denied that the terrorist organization agreed to a ceasefire with the Nigerian government.
Shekau was featured in a video Friday (Oct. 31) saying, “We have not made ceasefire with anyone. We did not negotiate with anyone. It's a lie.”
"We will not negotiate. What is our business with negotiation? Allah said we should not,” Shekau continued.
The Boko Haram leader also claimed that the girls kidnapped from a Chibok school on April 14 had already been converted to Islam and married off.
The video contrasted with previous claims from the Nigerian government that a ceasefire had been established and negotiations for the girls’ return were underway.
According to Human Right Watch, the militant group currently hold over 500 women and girls captive.
