Time with God - March 19, 2015

Romans 13:12-14

The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.

Want to overcome the pull of your sinful nature? Then don’t give it the tiniest foothold in your life!

Half-hearted Christianity just doesn’t work. If you decide to live partly for God and partly for yourself, you’ll end up just living for yourself and doing godly things when it suits you.

If you decide to give your mind to God for your daily quiet times and your time at church and at small group, but to feast on sensual TV shows and music and magazines during most of your free time, then your life will be dominated by secular values and a losing struggle with secular temptations.

“Make NO PROVISION for the flesh in regard to its lusts”! As Charles Spurgeon once said about small sins, “They are small in their infancy: they will be giants when they come to their full growth”.

If you want to overcome that sin that has persisted for so long in your life, you must be spiritually ruthless—no provision!
