Somebody Loves You - May 31

Lamb’s Book of Life

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.” - John 5:24-25

Those who believe and place their trust in Jesus Christ will have everlasting life. They will not be judged at the White Throne Judgment, and they will pass from death to life. What an incredible promise from the Lord. These words come from Christ.

Notice, He did not say, “If you do enough good works, you will have eternal life.” There is nothing we can do to earn salvation. It was all done on the Cross by Jesus Christ. All we are called to do is believe in Him—follow Him—follow Him to heaven.

He also said, those who were already dead will hear His voice and will live. He was talking of the saints who had already died and gone to Abraham’s Bosom, a compartment in hell for the righteous. They could not earn heaven; it was a gift from God.

Like the Jews, we are called to repentance. When we hear the Gospel message and we believe in Him, repentance comes naturally. We recognize our sin for what it is and repent before Him. What is so cool is that we do not have to do any works for our salvation. It is a free gift from God. The price was paid on the Cross of Jesus Christ.

Christ is the final word about salvation. Here, He is not only without peer, His is without competitor.
