Delight in God’s Goodness

“And they took strong cities and a rich land, and possessed houses full of all goods, cisterns already dug, vineyards, olive groves, and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate and were filled and grew fat, and delighted themselves in Your great goodness.” - >Nehemiah 9:25

Uninterrupted in prayer, the people remembered the beautiful land the Lord had given them. It was full of produce and well watered. They could just enjoy everything God had provided for them. Israel delighted in God’s goodness.

As we venture out in our own personal lives, we must recognize everything that we have gained has been given to us by God. We were born naked and began with nothing. Do you remember when you were single? If the Lord has blessed you with a wife, children, a home and everything you have accumulated then you, too, can delight in His goodness.  All God has done in our lives is because of His greatness, His goodness, His grace and His mercy. We do not deserve anything; it is the Lord who has blessed us. It is all God––He did it all!

As Christians come into a greater consciousness of their Creator, they need to be thankful and worship God for His goodness, love and mercy. He has given them everything good in this life.  Believers must worship Him for the rest of their lives. God deserves all the glory and honor due His name.

God did not save us so we could have a successful career as a doctor, a lawyer or an engineer in this life. In fact, whatever your career may be, you are to bring glory and honor to His name. Remember we are nothing apart from Him. Eventually we are going to spend eternity with God, and worship is what a relationship with God is all about.

Delight yourself also in the Lord,
and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
~Psalm 37:4~
