Hands-On Faith - Week of December 21, 2015

Hands-on Faith for Families– week of December 21, 2015

Theme:The Season of Giving

God Helps the Poor and Needy

Scripture:He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the needy” (Psalm 72:13) ESV.

Play: Take off your shoes and walk on a variety of surfaces. Have every family member describe how each surface feels.

Talk: Have you ever wondered what life would be like without shoes? Hot pavement would burn your feet. Icy surfaces would numb them. Sharp things would cut and scrape them. It would be hard to walk in a lot of places without shoes. Did you know that not everyone has a pair of shoes? Many people need shoes and other things, such as food, clean water and warm clothing. God says in Psalm 72:13 that He is concerned for the needy. He takes care of even their smallest needs — ones we can and can’t see. When we notice someone who is in need, we can join with God in helping that person. We can show His love by giving a hug, some food, clothes or a pair of shoes. How can you help someone in need today?

Pray: Pray that God will help you notice people in need and do what you can to help them.
