An upcoming film by director Rodrigo García is looking to depict Jesus’ 40-day struggle in the wilderness as recorded by the book of Matthew. Last Days in the Desert is an imagined chapter in this journey, where Christ (played here Ewan McGregor) is shown battling temptation, uncertainty, and human nature. What makes Last Days so fascinating however, is that McGregor plays the role of both Jesus and the Devil. The newly released trailer contains a number of scenes where the two figures trade insights on the character of God and his plans for humanity. Currently, The Last Days in the Desert is set to release in May of this year.
