Space Jam is Officially Getting a Sequel

Ryan Duncan

As proud residents of Chicago, my family was thrilled when the first Space Jam arrived at theaters back in 1996. Though the film has gone on to be one of Warner Bros. more unusual features (The Looney Toons challenging invading aliens to a basketball game? Really?!), Space Jam has earned a place in history as something of a nostalgia classic. Strange as the original story was however, it’s even stranger to discover that a sequel film is now in the works. According to Relevant and The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has green-lit a sequel film starring NBA player Lebron James as the main protagonist. The new movie will be directed by Justin Lin, who is well-known for his work with Community and the Fast & Furious franchise.

Guess it’s time to break out that catchy theme song once again!
