Are We Living in A Plastic Ocean?

Ryan Duncan

While Finding Dory is teaching viewers about the wonder and beauty of the oceans, another film is preparing a much gloomier narrative. A new documentary titled A Plastic Ocean reveals the extensive damage plastic waste has inflicted on marine life. Shot in more than 20 locations over the course of 4 years, international scientists reveal how plastic trash has begun to show up in the bellies and bodies of countless animals. This could have devastating consequences on the creature’s habitats, and even affect humans who unknowingly ingest food tainted by the material. Explorers Craig Leeson and Tanya Streeter, who both appear in the film, hope A Plastic Ocean will encourage audiences to seek out new solutions for the growing problem in our water.
