Time with God - December 28, 2016

John 17:4-5

“I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.”

What has God called me to do this past year?

It is an important question. God has placed you on this earth for a reason. God has a purpose for your life. That purpose gives your life meaning.

The great purpose of all of our lives is to know God, to glorify God and to share him with others. But there is a more specific purpose for your specific life. And this past year fits into that purpose.

Look back over your diary for this past year. How has God been working in your life this year? What lessons has he been teaching you? What has he been developing in your character? What have you learned about being a part of God’s work in this world?

Can you say, as Jesus said, “I have accomplished the work which you have given me to do”? Think about your personal ministry into other people’s lives throughout the day. How could you use your relationships more for God next year? What about your ministry in your church? How has God used you? Praise him for that, and ask him to increase his work through you in the coming year.
