The Power of Strategy

And it happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and that God had brought their plot to nothing, that all of us returned to the wall, everyone to his work. So it was, from that time on, that half of my servants worked at construction, while the other half held the spears, the shields, the bows, and wore armor; and the leaders were behind all the house of Judah. - >Nehemiah 4:15-16

Nehemiah was a strategist; as he saw the discouragement among the people, he reassembled them by families.  He set them up in positions of defense and made sure they are next to each other. Half of them watched for the enemy while the rest worked at constructing the wall. He gave to them a powerful strategy so they could be encouraged in the Lord.

I think of so many people whose homes are being totally wiped out by the enemy––Satan. Homes where the husband is not leading, and taking on the responsibility to be the head of his home––he is often too busy.

Fathers should be the prayer warrior of the home, the one called to watch over his wife and children.  He needs to be a loving husband and father teaching the Word of God to his family.  It is his responsibility to lovingly take care of his family and provide for them. Fathers, you cannot be too busy, even if you are working two jobs––you need to make time for your family, it is so important in these days.

I have to say to you fathers, “The enemy will come against you as the head of your homes.” Sometimes he will see that there are gaps, holes and openings in the wall of your home––spiritually speaking. This is when the family becomes separated from one another. When that happens the enemy will come in like a flood. He will begin to discourage your wife and your children. As a father prayerfully ask the Lord how you can strategize to bring your family back together in your home and in serving Him.

A home is not a building; it is a relational structure.
