Remember the Good

Remember me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people. - Nehemiah 5:19

Nehemiah asked the Lord to remember him, like a reminder, of all he had done for God’s people.  He wanted the Lord God not forget but to keep a record.

Remember we all have a work to do for the Lord and we must see it through to completion. It is important to understand that God keeps a record of all the labor we do for His kingdom. We are to work for eternity and not for the temporal. Our purpose for serving God is His glory alone. God will weigh our actions and motives and one day we shall stand at the Bema Seat of Christ ––a place of judgment and rewards:

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad  (2 Corinthians 5:10).

We are co-labors with Christ. Jesus has built a solid foundation for the Church and we continue to build His kingdom. Our work for the Lord is as gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw. All our works shall go into the fire to see if they are worthy of a reward:

Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire (1 Corinthians 3:12-15).

If we keep all these things in perspective, we shall do fine.

A concern for the glory of God is the ultimate motive for Christian living.
