Failing Strength
Then Judah said, “The strength of the laborers is failing, and there is so much rubbish that we are not able to build the wall.” - >Nehemiah 4:10
The strength of the people was failing; there was so much rubbish that the work had become difficult. It was hard to continue and they slowed down to a halt. The people had it tough and their enemies knew it. So they continued to discourage them and they wanted to destroy them.
What about the flock of Jesus? His people struggle at times to even get to church. They are often harassed by those people in their lives who are like Sanballat and Tobiah. Sometimes they must feel like their strength is failing them. Many fathers and mothers have to work and there is no supervision in the home. Parents not being home all the time––now that is a problem. Children can become insecure and perhaps they struggle in school. These are the areas Satan will attack the families in the church.
People in the world do not have it easy either. I think about everything that people go through in their lives without God. Imagine those who have to drive every day in the traffic into Los Angeles, that is a trial in itself. Think about what people go through daily––so much stress.
I knew a police officer whose wife, at thirty three years old, died of cancer. He was left with three children to raise. He began his shift at ten in the evening until six in the morning. He worked all night long. Afterwards he would go home, cook his children breakfast, and take them to school.
Then he would go to sleep, get up at about one o’clock and later return to work again. At times he would have to do a double shift and the children would have to go with another family member.
Now tell me, if you think you have got it tough? Seriously, we need to pray for God’s strength and depend on Him for everything in our lives.
But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
