3-Year-Old Boy Miraculously Survives after Falling from 9th Floor

A doctor in Argentina said it was a “miracle” that a 3-year-old boy survived falling from the ninth floor of his apartment.

Children Hospital in San Miguel, Argentina hospital director Cristina García de Alabarse said she is a “woman of science,” but she believes God helped the boy survive and recover only after 20 days.

"There are times that for us professionals, there's nothing left but to put ourselves in God's hands. I'm Catholic and I believe that miracles exist. Something happened there," she said, according to the Catholic News Agency.

Martin Chain fell from the ninth floor of his balcony in June while playing. He climbed over the railing and fell. His father, Maximo, was cooking while the boy was outside.

Chain fell nearly 100 feet to the ground.

"As he peered out, Maxi saw Piti (Martin) face down, lying on a patch of wet ground amid debris. And he saw him move," the mother, Florencia Núñez, said.

Chain was brought to the hospital conscious and with no broken bones. He was, however, put into a medically induced coma because he had sustained trauma to his skull and abdomen.

"He just has a few problems walking, but it's nothing permanent. With physical therapy he can make a 100 percent recovery," García de Alabarse said.

"He will have to continue with a psychologist, and physical checkups for a while, but we don't expect he'll have major problems long term. It's incredible," she added.
