Remember Gods Mighty Acts

“You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry by the Red Sea.  You showed signs and wonders against Pharaoh,
Against all his servants, and against all the people of his land.
For You knew that they acted proudly against them.
So You made a name for Yourself, as it is this day.” - Nehemiah 9:9-10

As the prayer of the people continued, they acknowledged that God is a God who sees. He had heard the cry of His people in Egypt. In response the Lord did miraculous acts and delivered them from bondage.  Egypt was full of pride and the Lord humbled them. Through Israel’s great deliverance, the Egyptians would come to know God: …the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them”(Exodus 7:5).

God became known among His own people:…that you may tell in the hearing of your son and your son’s son the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the Lord”(Exodus 10:1-2).

The fame of God’s name would reach to other heathen nations. Rahab, a prostitute in the city of Jericho, told the spies from Israel:

 “I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you. For we have heard how the Lorddried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt… (Joshua 2:9).

The next time you see yourself in a difficult situation or problem, remember the Lord’s mighty acts in your own life. How did God rescue you? In what ways did God fulfill a specific need in your life?

I will remember the works of the Lord;
Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
~Psalm 77:11~
