Unless the LORD builds the house,

They labor in vain who build it;

                             --Psalm 127:1

The revolution that took place and brought America into birth gave us freedom and established the foundations upon which this great country is built. But we are in need of a new revolution—one in the family that must first take place in our schools, legislative bodies, television shows, politics, businesses, and certainly our places our worship.

Satan has launched an unbelievable attack against the home to devastate, divide, and break the family. The family and the institution of marriage are just a couple of the issues we deal with in our world that are like out-of-control cars driving down the highway. The unruly cars are passing up wrecks that have occurred all along the way and are headed for serious trouble.

We need to consider a few things when trying to understand this scenario. First, we need to show compassion to those who have wrecked and are broken on the highway. We need to make sure that we’re working on the road to repair the potholes and ditches, so no one else will go careening off the side of the road. Finally, we need to teach others driver’s education—or instruct our families as to God’s plan for daily life.

Several years ago, there were even some top magazines that finally realized what is happening in our families today. One Fortune Magazine writer said, “The revolution in families that we see all around us, the result of an epidemic of divorce, remarriage, re-divorce, illegitimacy, and new strains within intact families, has precipitated a revolution in the inner lives of our children. And a torrent of research makes plain that this revolution within the minds and hearts of the next generation has deeply troubling implications for the American social order.”

The fact is, a moral and emotional earthquake is rumbling across our world, collapsing homes, weakening our values, shattering families, and threatening the very foundations of our way of life. The Scripture says, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3). I’ll tell you that the righteous can stand up for what the things that are right and true according to God’s Word!

Start in your own home by making God the head of your household and you’ll see the difference it can make in the life of your marriage and in the lives of your children. That will begin the revolution that we need in the family.

THE FOUNDATION OF THE HOME IS DIVINE IN ESTABLISHMENT, SUPREME

IN RELATIONSHIP, AND UNCONDITIONAL IN COMMITMENT!
