River City Bank and the CAC Art Display Funding
So who is sponsoring the "Lockyer Art Display" in the DOJ?
We've contacted Jeanie Reeves, President and Spokesperson for River City Bank. The "Hogue Show" asked her about the press release that Communication Director, Mary Beth Barber submitted from the California Arts Council, stating the 'event sponsors', and listing River City Bank as the most predominant of sponsors.
Reeves admitted River City Bank's support for the Lawyer for the Art display following a solicitation, but insisted that they - River City Bank - are not "funding" this exhibit with any financial support. (I'm confused too)
Reeves also stated that she was surprised that the "Hogue Show' and "News Talk 1380 KTKZ" knew of their participation in this event. She was also very interested in the "Hogue Blog" posting that mentioned such.
Hmm, maybe we should encourage the fine folks at River City Bank to reconsider their sponsorship at the CAC and the "Lawyer for the Arts" exhibit.
I have a question: How much money is being spent on the California Arts Council in the yearly budget? Is it $2 million, or $4 million?
What if we cancelled the budgetary line item for the CAC, and added that funding into education or health care for the disabled? Stop funding the CAC as a consequence for this ridiculous display, and use the millions of tax dollars funneled to the CAC for educational, or health care related budgetary items.
We can 're-pay' the CTA for their support in last year's budgetary agreement. They can stop calling the Governor a liar, and a thief - and we can stop the CAC from funding political protest art at the DOJ building.
