What’s In It For You?

In His Presence: “Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me . . . you also shall sit upon twelve thrones” (Matthew 19:28).

Leave it to Peter to ask an unthinkable question. In Matthew 19, he reminds Jesus, “We have left everything and followed You; what then will there be for us?” (v. 27). When you feel as though you are making a supreme sacrifice, you are tempted to ask, “Lord, what's in this for me?” Christ's reply to Peter is the same for us today. He told His disciple, “Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children . . . for My name's sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life” (v. 29)…
