“For such a time as this you have been called”. Could we stand as they did? Some pay a price,
(3 missionaries, tortured & killed in Turkey-last yr, even here in Colorado in a missionary school, a gunman kills student!). These people should be remembered, we remember our fallen veterans to gave their life for our country’s freedom, why not the men & women who paid a price for our faith

I can’t celebrate Halloween. Due to personal knowledge & experience with the occult, I know what it really means. I also believe very strongly on open doors. My soapbox is “just because you lack the knowledge of it, doesn’t mean it’s not so, that just makes you ignorant (unaware/uninformed/ignorant of the danger caused by lack of knowledge)”, our people perish for lack of knowledge. As a Christian, we are to close doors that the enemy would try to come into so, why would I willingly participate in something that the enemy takes pleasure in, especially in Christians celebrating?? I just find it distressing. My children have never participated in Halloween either; they always have candy in the house. I know my 24 yr old daughter, did dress up and go to parties when she went away to college, she is now backslidden. My 20 yr old son dresses up last year as a gorilla and went to a party. He said he felt out of place and went home. This year, I don’t know what he is doing; I did remind him of opening doors he cannot close. They’re adults and they’ll be the one to pay the consequences. My 17 year old will be at the movies w/his girlfriend.
This is why I have trouble with the churches Harvest Festival. Isn’t that just compromising? Some may agree and some may think differently, that’s the wonderful thing about our country… we are free to express ourselves. (I’m the wife of a Marine who has served for 30 yrs. I’m quite familiar with the price of freedom.) I’m for remembering the Patron Saints of Old; it’s their sacrifice and blood that paved a way for our freedom and us today. Please note they stood for Christ, so don’t think that I think more highly of them. Christ paid the ultimate price; it’s His blood that made the way. It is b/c of Christ that they stood & why we are here today. “For such a time as this you have been called”. Could we stand as they did? Some pay a price,

If you feel a release and relief that at least this article has confirm all these years your thoughts to or not to celebrate Halloween is answered, think again. From where we are now, Singapore, Halloween is the same name for Ghost Festival. Is a time, to appease the ghosts that is released from hell for a short period of time. Since, i am borned again, there is never a time that i want to again participate in anyway with this festival. My advise to you is if any article sound good to you, especially you have been waiting from another person to confirm your own desire,is likely you should not.

I appreciate other people's perspectives, but here's mine. Halloween, from what I understand, is perhaps the only day in the year when Satanists practice all of their sacrifices (each holiday has specific sacrifices). On this day, they sacrifice animals, and even children. A few years ago, I heard an ex-Satanist speak about how Satanists were currently under investigation (they were trying to figure out who was involved) for crimes of kidnapping young children on or just before Halloween, group raping them, hanging them on a cross, and dancing around them while spitting on them. Then setting them ablaze. So...I have always had a hard time celebrating a day when this kind of heinous crime is taking place. My conscience won't allow it. Having said that, I can fully understand how many Christians celebrate the day in naivety. Hopefully fewer after reading this comment.

The term Halloween comes from All Hallow's Eve. It was the eve of All Saint's Day. In doing so the church hallowed or made a pagan feast a holy day in the church calendar. The focus it on the Saint's in glory, those who have preceeded us. Church feasts start the evening before the festal day. Christmas Eve is another examplpe. For that reason, I do not have a problem with the secular aspects of this Holiday anymore than I do with Christmas.

Great piece. I've been for, been against, been for Halloween. As you can see I'm now "for". Hey, I've read some articles concerning halloween. It's origin dates back to medieval times and blah, blah, blah, blah. I'm 65 and got my share of peanut butter cups and helped myself to my kid's peanut butter cups. None of my kids and no other kids I know joined a cult as a result of halloween. So, dress up, have fun and watch out for the cars. Also, share those goodies with grandpa and mimi. God Bless

P.S. Medieval folks didn't now what they were missing since peanut butter cups had not yet been invented.

This is a difficult issue. My daughter goes to public school, as of this year, and is afraid of the "ghouls and goblins" that she sees not only in school but also in grocery stores and other public places.
It is one thing to innocently dress up in a costume and collect some candy, especially when you research Halloween and find the many different origins from Christian to pagan alike. But the fact is, there are several evil-doers who use this day as a reason to commit horrible acts of violence and sin, and how do I, as a mother, protect my child from the pictures and what-not that are everywhere at this time of year?
"Do not let your heart condemn you" is the best answer I know, but I must also explain to my 5 yo daughter why some people dress as witches and devils. It begs the question, do I want my daughter and family to participate in such an event? Lord help us do Your will...

Halloween should be for the children, the kids, and as an adult, I feel we should try our best to keep in innocent and provide them with the excitement it is meant for...a little candy being handed out, and a smile on a young lad's or young girl's face is worth so much more than the candy! They feel proud in their costums and they enjoy it.

Thus, why should we, as adults, penalize these children. And....sadly we have with so much debate about the evils of Halloween and dangers of it....

We can keep our kids safe by having them accompanied with adults...

As for me, I say bring the knocks back to the door, and the costumes and the shout "trick or treat"

After all Jesus said to knock and he will enter and to feed those in need...

Many kids never get a treat until this holiday...

Love to all,
Jim
