Excellent article! While reading it, I recalled last Christmas...my dad had died on Dec. 11, 2006 and my mom on May 3, 2007 so it was not an easy Christmas for our family. As we sat around the tree on Christmas Eve, the grandchildren were quiet and thoughtful. I shared with them what I'd realized earlier in the day...that for the first time Big Dad and Granny Goose (as the grandchildren & great-grandchildren called them) were celebrating Christmas "with the original cast." That thought was VERY comforting to all of us.

The same is true of the author's dad...he spent Christmas that year where it all began!
