This is such a great article! And ... (gulp) also a little convicting, because I can see myself in there! It gives a good starting place for moving forward, though.

However, I would like to know more about how to deal with a critical parent, someone a person will relate to regardless. Dr. Cloud says that critical people will start to relate healthily to you if you deal with their criticism, but I'm not sure how much this would apply to a parent in her 70s who seems "stuck" on being critical after being that way for years and is already a little foggy in her reasoning.

Solid gold wisdom! Taking ownership of ones problems is maturity. Too many times I have heard people wait on God to fix their problems. When God was waiting on them to change. I heard it expressed if they want to know who you are, they can just look at your friends. This is character chemistry fundamentals. Thank you Dr. Henry Cloud for these great truths
