Everything on earth has a purpose; without purpose we would not exist. Because of our human nature, we cannot know our purpose apart from God. Because we did not create ourselves then, we cannot tell what our purpose is.
In Colossians 1:16, Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see—kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him.
Jesus Christ had a purpose. He died on the cross to have a relationship with us, so that in turn we would have a relationship with others. Jesus, as a single adult, knew his purpose had nothing to do with his family, his job, his finances, where he lived or his friends. His purpose would be so grand that it would affect all of mankind forever.
Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (that done in the body by the hands of men)—remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world (Eph. 1:11-12).
Furthermore, because of Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us from the beginning, and all things happen just as he decided long ago. God's purpose was that we, who were the first to trust in Christ, should praise our glorious God.
As a single adult myself, I know how easy it is to believe finding a spouse, buying a home and having the right job creates our purpose. We know from God's Word that these are only relationships and tools that God gives us in order to work out HIS PURPOSE for our lives. Our purpose is to have a relationship with Christ and then to live out that relationship with others, sharing with them and being a witness.
It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith (Rom. 4:13).
It is clear, then, that God's promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was not based on obedience to God's law, but on the new relationship with God that comes by faith.
SOLO and its singles conference would turn out to be more than me designing one banner. They would use this as a way to find common ground with me. To start a relationship that would in turn get me connected into the ministry of Christ. I would serve on this team week after week, praying, studying the Word of God, making new friends and eventually building my relationship with Christ to a level way beyond my imagination. SOLO and its leaders would help me find my purpose, my identity in Christ and direction for my life.
