It's become the norm in American culture to assume that we need drugs, or some psychobabble counseling to "fix" us after losses.
It's refreshing to hear someone say that dealing with loss is a grieving process and requires reprocessing, sometimes even years later.
When we hurt, sometimes people misunderstand and think that it means "you need to get over that supposed "issue", but who are they to play God and tell someone that they have "issues" and need to get "over it". If we focus on "fixing" the hurts, we end up hurting people even more.
The Lord says to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice.
I am grateful that this article encourages us to be realistic about our emotions and not run from them or from losses. The Lord is our helper to meet our emotional needs each time we cry, so we all need to be more like Jesus and give people time to grieve...as much as they need.
