Any attempts at political bridge-building should not be construed as papering over significant theological differences.

Here we go again. Joel Osteen is in the news again, this time for saying that Mormonism is just another form of Christianity.

We can be good neighbors and even close friends while we agree to disagree and sometimes warmly debate the differences between us.

Can a faithful Christian vote for a Mormon candidate?

The real question is whether supporting a Mormon for president would promote Mormonism. My answer to that is "yes."

Unbelievers can serve God's purpose for government, and evangelicals, in good conscience, can vote for a non-Christian if he's the best-qualified candidate for president.

The answer is both “yes” and “no,” and understanding why is an important discussion.
