I didn't see the Survivor show but good for her in not going through with the ceremony. Strange isn't it?
If you are part of some far away religion from another land then it is normal to have your beliefs and stick to them. The buddhist monk is seen as 'deep and spiritual' but the Christian is not allowed the same respect. It is like the Christian is seen as needing to be accepting of all faiths but is not allowed his own. Just because following Christ is not burning incense or something to a statue doesn't mean there isn't truth in believing in the invisible God of the bible.

I noticed last night on Survivor, when the Christian lady radio host couldn't go through with the Buddhist temple ceremony, that the other contestants looked at her like she was from another planet. Even Jeff Probst said it wasn't a religious ceremony, it was a welcoming ceremony. The lady said it felt like worship to her (duh,of course it was religious- they made them bow down to idols in a Buddhist Temple!) She was mocked and thought weird for standing up for her beliefs.
