This is pretty shocking that a pastor of 32,000 member church would utter statements like, “Up until the very end of the Bible, we know almost nothing about what heaven will be like. In fact, the last three chapters of Revelation tell us more about heaven than all of the rest of scripture put together.” Or should I be shocked? Nah. Most “evangelical” pastors these days do not seem to understand the Bible as they should though they are seminary trained and have numerous years of ministry experience. It is statements like these that tell you the spiritual condition and biblical ignorance of pastors today. Should he be fired? Well, if I were him I would not fear being fired from the pulpit but fear the one who will have some harsh words for him on Judgment Day!

Ignorance in a layman is an indication of insufficient Biblical training because of a lack of accountability in the church's leadership to teach people what God expects them to know. We can see in the Scriptures that God is not tolerant of ignorance but also that he is merciful with us and gives us every opportunity to learn about him. Ignorance in a minister of the Word is morally culpable and elicits God's wrath in a special way. Jesus had very harsh words for those who passed themselves off as leaders in the church and yet knew next to nothing about God and his kingdom. We ought to apply the same standards in our day, giving God the glory by going back to the Bible (like the Bereans) and seeing if what these people say is true.
For this reason James warned us that teachers would be judged more strictly. Justice does not always come in this life, and so ignorant teachers can often get by with saying whatever they please; but woe be to them when God calls them to account.

I would appreciate any help you can give me on this matter and or any information you can share on how to get this book. Thanks so much.

Dear Crosswalk, Well as usual I did enjoy the article on "what Heaven will be like" . I am certainly looking forward to it even though we (I) have so much work to do on myself and certainly on the world before going. However I am aware that I do not get a say in when God chooses us to come home. . I am emailing because in your article you mentioned about getting a book called, "Heaven , a Place for You " and to click on the box for it . I could not find that box. I would love to receive that book and yet have no way of knowing how to go about doing so . can you send me the specifics of what I need to fill out in order to get the booklet? Thank you so very much . sincerely , Beth Duncan

Anybody who says "Up until the very end of the Bible, we know almost nothing about what heaven will be like. In fact, the last three chapters of Revelation tell us more about heaven than all of the rest of scripture put together" obviously doesn't understand the Bible. He ought to be fired, not allowed to prepare our young people for the ministry.
