My wife sent me this article to read and I am thankful that she did. I know she battles depression, sometimes daily and my heart goes to her. I have such a feeling of hopelessness because there is nothing I can do to make it right. I do my best to educate myself to understand the dynamics of the illness but I know in my heart this illness has nothing to do with anything she has done or her lack of faith for I know she is a strong Christian woman, afterall it is through her and the grace and mery of our Lord that I have come to know the Lord.

Husbands I cry out to you. It is easy to feel ignored, unimportant and frustrated often times not knowing what the next day might bring, but this illness isn't about you or me. It is about her and God's will. Men, all we can do as followers of Christ is love them, have compassion for them, pray for our wives daily and have faith that the Lord will heal them. Until then, unit as iron sharpens iron and remain strong in Him.

I have been blessed to read the article and was sent article 2 to read.. I pray this will help me to understand several people's illness better and to encourage them to see their worth in Christ, and to better understand how I may support them Spiritually and emotionally. Thank you for this postive, informative article.

I hope I can get my husband to read this article. I was institutionalized and diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I also have depression, asthma, allergies, fibromyalgia, the list goes on. My husband is the deacon of our church, and he believes that I must be sinning or not believing in God enough. He doesn't understand the dynamics of this illness. I HAVE prayed.ALOT.not everyone can be well- either physically or mentally. It is totally GOD'S will, not mine, or my husband's. all I can do is have faith that God CAN heal me, and do what the doctor's say. I do feel better now that I am on meds. But I will still keep on praying...

Marie I enjoyed your article so much. I teach understanding of mental illness and how lay chrisitian can assist someone with mental illness at Ohio's annual Christian Education Conference.. I've even written a manuel which I hope to get published. I would like to use your story the next time I teach about mental illness. God keep you and be assured surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life and you shall come to dwell in the house of the Lord forever. P. S. I have a 39 year old daughter diagnosed Bi-polar.

I enjoyed this article. Thank you for helping to remove the stigma involved with having a mental illness. I suffer from mental illness, and God has been working with me on dealing with it through reading the Word and paying attention to the Holy Spirit. I have learned to acknowledge my feelings, but not to let my feelings control me. Instead, I focus on the promises in the Word.
